Volunteer & Field Trip Chaperone Requirements

Thank you for your interest in wanting to chaperone with your child’s class for an upcoming field trip. As required by Arlington Public Schools, all classroom volunteers and chaperones must go through a pre-screening before helping at or going on field trips. Arlington Public Schools uses Raptor Technologies to manage the volunteer / chaperone process for any field trip happening at their schools. All volunteers or chaperones will undergo sex offender screening and will need to complete the online application listed below in their preferred language.

Upon the submittion of your application, you will receive a generated email from Arlington Public Schools that will inform you that your online application has been received and is going through the review process. Before the volunteer application is approved, you must take and pass a SafeSchools and Sexual Misconduct training. A link to that training will be provided to you during the volunteer application review process. Applicants BEWARE that often the email that Arlington Schools sends you related to this training usually ends up in your spam folder. Always check your spam folder.

**If you passed the training within the last calendar year you don’t have to take the training again. However, you must be able to upload a copy of your certificate in your online application.

Once you have completed your training, please email Alicia Zekan at [email protected]. You may also contact her with any questions and concerns regarding volunteering and chaperoning. Each volunteer or chaperone will be informed of their individual application’s status until it is fully completed. Again, all communications related to this matter will come directly from Arlington Public Schools and not an individual user.

Again, thank you for your interest in volunteering your time at Barrett Elementary School.
