Dear Barrett Families:

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We are excited to welcome you to Open House this week. Our teachers have been working hard on getting their rooms and spaces ready to welcome you and your child to Barrett this year. Please see the information below to help you get ready for the upcoming school year!

• Open House is on Thursday, August 24, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for you to meet your child’s teacher, drop off school supplies, and see your child’s classroom. We encourage all families to drop off school supplies to their classrooms during Open House.
  • Don’t forget to complete the dismissal plan form with information on how your child will dismiss at the end of the day. It is important for your child’s teacher to know how your child plans to dismiss from school to ensure a safe dismissal. Please communicate this with your child by completing the dismissal form during Open House. We will not be issuing stickers as we have in the years past.
• School hours are from 9:00 a.m. – 3:50 p.m. Our school doors will open at 8:40 a.m for students eating breakfast. Please have students enter through the front door (Door #1).
  • Breakfast will be in the cafeteria from 8:40-9:00 am. Only students eating breakfast or in the Extended Day Program will be admitted prior to 8:40 am.
  • All Extended Day students and students entering for breakfast in the morning will be escorted to the blacktop the first three weeks of school.
• APS is now using the ParentSquare platform for School Talk messages to unify division, school and one-to-one parent-teacher communication. We will begin to send the weekly messages to all families through Parent Square starting October 1. We will begin sending test messages to families that are enrolled to test the various features. We will still post the messages onto our website until all staff and families have had the opportunity to transition to the new platform. • Shout out to the Seila Santiago, Lindsay & Daniel Cosley, Jennie Apter, Nomugi Dame, Tyson Williams, William Jackson, and Isabela De Leon for helping us get ready for our teacher’s return for preservice week by stuffing folders, filling staff bags with school supplies to start the year, and beautifying different areas of our school with our new Barrett Beliefs! Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to help us get ready. We appreciate you!!
