Hi there! My name is Cayleen Young, and I am thrilled to be part of the amazing 4th grade team at Barrett. Before joining Barrett, I taught elementary special education in New York and Maryland. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Inclusive Education from SUNY Cortland, specializing in students with high-incidence to severe disabilities, and I’m currently pursuing a Master of Education in Literacy. A little about me: I grew up in upstate New York, near Syracuse, and played soccer throughout my childhood and into college. Outside of teaching 4th graders, I enjoy Pilates, yoga, SoulCycle, trying out new gluten-free recipes, and spending time with my puppy, Malcolm! On Twitter (X) @KWBYoung

Hi there! My name is Brittany Utterback and I am excited to start my 12 year of teaching, 8th year at Barrett, and 7th year in 4th Grade. I graduated from Fort Lewis College in my hometown, Durango Colorado and received my masters degree in Administration and Policy from Virginia Tech in 2020. I have a daughter going into 8th grade and a 2.5 year old son. Outside of school our family stays busy with beach trips to Ocean City, family hiking trips, and finding new parks to explore. I've hiked five 14ers (14,000ft elevation) peaks, all in Colorado and love finding new places to hike on the east coast!

My name is Zach Porter and I’m excited to be at KW Barrett! I grew up in Arlington (I went to McKinley, Swanson, and Yorktown) and am proud to be working and living in the county that helped raise me. I went to Denison University and received my Bachelor’s in History. After college, I worked as a Manager of Communications at a non-profit in DC for a few years, before turning to graduate school to get my Masters of Elementary Education from Marymount University. I’ve been at KW Barrett since January of 2012, when I taught 5th grade. I then taught 2nd grade for 3 years, 4th grade for 8 years, and now am an EL teacher. I love hiking with my wife Rachel and my dog Brady, reading, running, board gaming, kayaking, and playing with my daughters, Ramona and Margaret. I am looking forward to another fantastic year!

I joined the wonderful Barrett community as an English-learner teacher in January 2022. I am originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and came to Northern Virginia to work for the federal government. After some time spent focusing on my own children, I switched my career to education, first as a library assistant at Ashlawn Elementary School. I earned my Masters in Education from George Mason University. I have two young-adult children who attended Arlington Public Schools, a husband, two Siamese cats (Chester and Minerva) and a Cardigan Welsh Corgi (Gwennie). In my free time you can find me walking Gwennie in the park, singing, reading, doing yoga, or baking.
