Nancy Hensley [email protected] Teacher Instructional Staff Grades / Teams: 1 nancy Hi! I’m Nancy Hensley and am excited to be teaching first grade this year. This is my sixth year teaching first grade at Barrett. I have worked in a variety of classrooms at Barrett since starting here in 2010. Earlier in my career I taught grades 3, 4 and 5 in North Carolina. I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I received my teaching degree. In my spare time, I like to travel and explore new places. I also love spending time with my twin daughters, my husband and my cats! I am looking forward to a fabulous year!

Emily Maldonado has been a dedicated educator at Barrett Elementary since 2013, where she brings energy, empathy, and expertise to her role as an English Learner (EL) teacher. This year, she’s excited to continue supporting 1st grade students, helping them build confidence and language skills from the very start of their academic journey. A proud Virginia native, Emily earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University. Outside the classroom, you can find her exploring new destinations, going to live concerts, tending to her garden, or enjoying short walks with her beloved senior dog.
