Community Conversation/Lunch and learn with APS Substance Abuse Counselor

 In collaboration with the Parent Resource Center, families are invited to a Virtual Lunch and Learn: Substance Use Webinar on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 12:00-1:00 pm. This Virtual Community Conversation will be led by an APS Substance Abuse Counselor. Topics of discussion will include:

• Opioids, fentanyl, fake pills
• Naloxone, a medicine that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose
• Warning signs of substance abuse
• Free resources available in Arlington

This meeting is open to all elementary, middle and high school families; all can register through Parent Resource Center here.

Northern Virginia Magazine’s Teacher of the Year Search:

Northern Virginia Magazine is kicking off the search for our Teacher of the Year 2023. This prestigious annual award recognizes the extraordinary educators in our region. The Teacher of the Year will be awarded $10,000 and be profiled in the October 2023 issue of Northern Virginia Magazine, which will also appear on northernvirginiamag.com. Finalists will also be featured in the story. You can see our Teacher of the Year 2022 coverage here.  The survey runs March 6 through April 14, and we welcome nominations from school administrators, teachers, parents, students, former students, and the general public. Spring SEL Survey: The Spring SEL Survey administration window is April 24-28.  Parents will again be given the opportunity to opt-out of the survey.  This information will go out through APS SchoolTalk during the week of March 15.
