We are thrilled that longtime Barrett volunteer, retired engineer Dr. Stu Jessup received an APS Honored Citizen Award for 2025 2026! Dr. Jessup has volunteered in classrooms and in Project Discovery, collaborating with teachers to bring exciting hands-on STEM projects and experiments to our Barrett students. Some of the highlights are squishy circuits, electromagnets, designing and building boats for the huge water tow tank, building and racing cars, launching rockets, testing different airplanes, building with simple machines, the ocean profile mystery boxes, erosion rigs and experimenting with the awesome wind tubes built by Dr. Jessup!
Dr. Jessup was nominated by Project Discovery teacher Dr. Sullivan. The nomination packet contained links to videos, photos and letters of support from administrators, teachers, the Family Engagement Coordinator and APS Science and STEM Specialists.
