Working with Real Live Whooping Cranes

Posted by Laurie Sullivan at 11/13/2010 10:00:00 AM

Yesterday Ken Lavish visited the Discovery Lab to talk with each of the Kindergarten classes about his work with the endangered whooping crane. Mr. Lavish was very enthusiastic as he shared about raising these special birds at the Patuxant Research and Wildlife Refuge, moving them to their home in Wisconsin, and the fall migration to Florida. Mr. Lavish connected his work to the Whooping Crane Story Hats the students had made the previous week in the Discovery Lab. Please ask your child to show you the story hat and share with you this fascinating true story.
