Mrs. Orli works at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum, Department of Botany. She shared with the fourth grade classes about the work in the herbarium. A herbarium is a collection of preserved plant specimens. Most of the specimens are dried out and then mounted on paper. After Mrs. Orli’s presentation, we collected plant specimens from the front of the school. Back inside, it was a challenge to identify each of the plants. We succeeded and our work is now on display in the hall. Thank you, Mrs. Orli for sharing your career with us!
