Photos taken by the students at PatuxentMrs. Quinzio’s class and Ms. Smith’s class visited the Discovery Lab a few days after the third grade field trip to Patuxent Research Refuge. In the Lab the students participated in a “tea party” to discuss the types of things they might see (or did see) at Patuxent. The students conversed based on the information provided on each unique index card. The class also viewed some of the photographs taken by the students while on the field trip. Afterwards, the students wrote about Patuxent in their Science Notebooks. For the last part of their hour in the Discovery Lab, the students received their own whooping crane activity book to learn more about the endangered whooping crane that researchers help at Patuxent. Please ask your child about his/her conversation at our tea party and about the field trip. Be sure to check out the blog entry below with photos from the field trip.
