In the Discovery Lab, Mrs. Weaver’s class learned about cells by rotating through 4 stations. Students got a close up view of cells by exploring a very interesting and interactive website called !

They also took notes from a SMART Board lesson on cells, saw the vacuole and nucleus of red onion cells, and did some independent reading about DNA. We also made 3 dimensional models of cells and DNA strands using the Keva Blocks in the lab. We found out very interesting things about cells….did you know that plant cells are rectangular shaped and animal cells have an irregular shape?

Mr. R helped us learn about cells with his metaphor…Cells need to be close together to form tissue…just like bricks in a wall!
