Kindergarten Project Discovery

DSC01645This week the Kindergarten classes reviewed a few previous lessons in the Discovery Lab. We reviewed the types of spacecraft exploring Mars (orbiters, landers, and rovers), reviewed some of the work done at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), and reviewed the Mars Exploration Rovers Spirit and Opportunity. As a class we played an online game of sending commands to a Mars rover so that it would safely reach the desired destination. We talked about the Mars rover Curiosity and then split into groups to interact with Curiosity using the Spacecraft 3D app on the iPads.DSC01640DSC01633DSC01639DSC01638DSC01636DSC01642You may downloaded the Spacecraft 3D app for free from the iTunes store. You will need to print a target to use with your iPad or iPhone camera http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/apps/images/3dtarget.pdfTo play the rover game, visit http://education.nationalgeographic.com/education/multimedia/interactive/maps-tools-explore-mars/
