First Grade Thinks Like A Robot!!!!

As we follow the current mission of Space Shuttle Discovery, we are keeping connected with the activities of Robonaut, the first humanoid robot ever sent into space! Robonaut has been quite busy with multiple tasks, however, we thought we would try to see what it might be like to be a robot! Working with a partner or in a small group, first graders took turns being a robot or the controller, in which commands were exchanged in order to put a small marble into a cup! The robot had to do so with his/her eyes covered, while listening carefully for directions! This was a challenging experience in that giving specific commands so that the task would be successfully completed! Once we practiced being robots, we used iPads to learn more about Robonaut.
