DSC09798All students at Barrett are visiting an exhibit on loan from the Virginia Living Museum that is displayed in the Discovery Lab. The exhibit is titled, The Natural History of Early Virginia. The objectives for the lesson are that students will be able to 1) identify animals, plants, and artifacts of early Virginia, and 2) describe how natural resources were used in Virginia over 400 years ago. As the exhibit connects so well with the current 4th grade social studies unit, fourth graders visited the exhibit several times and prepared mini presentations for their peers. Students placed the items under the document camera to project them on the SMART board during their presentations. Parents visited the exhibit during Back to School night and a few students brought their parents to the Discovery Lab after school.
