With our historic snow storm closing schools for over a week, when we finally returned it was fun to do experiments with insulating blubber mitts & fur mitts to see how some animals adapt to the cold temperatures in the polar regions. We also completed a Digital Lab from the Jason Project related to the abiotic and biotic elements in the Arctic and the interactions within the food web. Students choose either the penguin or the polar bear and then researched behavioral and structural adaptations for their animal. We also watched DVDs showing research conducted by former Barrett students Alexis and Gabby related to Antarctica.
