Second graders had fun learning about bats this week. Mrs. Sullivan shared about the bat she “adopted”. It is a California Leaf-nosed bat. Did you know Mrs. Sullivan is from California? We listened to two songs about echolocation and then played the Bat Echolocation Game. We also watched part of a DVD about bats. We saw a vampire bat in action! We saw a bat catch a cricket and another bat catch a fish. It was neat to see the fruit eating bats too. Did you know that bats are pollinators? We ended by making little books about bats and reading books. Next time in the Discovery Lab we will learn about being a bat researcher in the rainforests of Panama.SPAN>
