Due to Barrett’s designation as a NASA Explorer School, we were invited to participate in the Virginia Aerospace Day that took place in Richmond on Thursday, February 3, 2011. Barrett Student Council Association fourth and fifth graders and the Power Committee members had the opportunity to speak with Senator Whipple and Delegate Hope via the videoconferencing system in the Barrett Discovery Lab. The event was coordinated by Project Discovery teacher Laurie Sullivan, SCA leaders teachers Che Abdeljawad and Carrie Lombardi, and NASA Langley Research Center. Thanks to our library media specialist Margaret Frick and ITC Fred Delventhal for supporting the event. The interactive conference was a huge success and now the students want to go on a field trip to Richmond!
