My name is Julianne Scopellite and I am a fifth grade special education teacher at KW Barrett Elementary. I’ve been a member of the Arlington community since my time at Marymount University where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies with a concentration in elementary education grades PK-6. After finishing undergraduate school in 2017 I began my official teaching career as a third grade general education teacher at Discovery Elementary, Arlington Public Schools. I have a passion for learning and continued my education at George Mason University where I earned two additional accreditations. I hold a Master’s Degree in Special Education concentrating in students who access the general curriculum (Class of 2020) and a Graduate Certificate in Gifted Education (Class of 2022) both for grades K-12. This will be my sixth year teaching in APS and my first year at Barrett.
When I was a young learner, my father was in the Army which gave me the opportunity to experience living in different places. Virginia is the state I have lived in the longest! Growing up I enjoyed playing with our family dog, battling my younger brother in Nintendo video games, and expressing myself through art. Now as an adult, I like listening to audio books, trying new foods, and spending time with family. I’m looking forward to the 2022-2023 school year and getting to know all of the students in my class. Go, Tigers!
