Hi there! My name is Heather Weir and I am excited to start my fifth year as the special education teacher in Barrett’s integrated VPI (Virginia Preschool Initiative) classroom for four year olds. I love teaching our youngest learners! I have been working on the special education team at Barrett since 2012. In 2015 I was honored to be named Barrett’s Teacher of the Year. I truly love coming to school and seeing my students’ faces light up when they learn something new!
I am lucky to also be a Barrett parent. I have a daughter in 12th grade and a son in 8th grade who were both Barrett Tigers.
Outside of school our family stays busy with sports, family hiking trips, and working in the yard! I am originally from North Carolina and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with undergraduate degree in History. I have a Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Virginia and completed my early childhood licensure requirements through George Mason University. My family loves cheering for the North Carolina Tar Heels during football and especially basketball season!
