Erin VerWest

My name is Erin VerWest, and I’m excited to join Barrett Elementary this year as the Resource Teacher for the Gifted. I was born and raised in South Jersey, not too far from the beach. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University (Go Bobcats!) and my Master’s in Administration & Supervision from the University of Virginia. I have been an educator for 13 years and I am passionate about working with children and teachers. I’ve taught at a tiny private school in New Jersey and three different schools in Fairfax County that have all helped me learn and grow as a teacher.  I enjoy helping students think critically and creatively, discover and develop their strengths and interests, ask and ponder big questions, and make real-world connections through their academic experience. I live in Arlington with my husband and two elementary-age sons. When I’m not teaching, you will likely find me at a youth sports event, on a family adventure, listening to a podcast, or reading a book. I look forward to a successful 2022-2023 school year!
