Beth Nalker

Great Wall_BethHello!  My name is Beth Nalker, and I am a Math Intervention Teacher for grades K-3.  As a former Barrett parent, I’m very happy to return to the Barrett community as a teacher!  This is my fourth year at Barrett, where I have been both a 5th grade classroom teacher and a 5th grade special education teacher.  Over my career, I’ve worked in a variety of educational settings. After working in museum education at the Smithsonian Institution and the National Science Foundation, I earned a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from American University and then taught 3rd and 5th grade general education and 6th grade math at Capitol Hill Day School in Washington, DC between 1999-2013. In 2016, I earned a Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Virginia. In addition to spending time with my husband, son, and daughter (who is also a teacher!), I enjoy running, hiking, vegetarian cooking, and rooting for the Washington Nationals – Go Nats!  I look forward to helping all my students develop the skills they need to grow into happy, healthy, successful adults!
