The Read-a-Thon is here! Your student should have brought home a Read-a-Thon flyer on Monday with his/her personal code. A reminder flyer went home today. If you cannot find your student’s code contact me at email@example.com. Please help your students set up their pages this weekend so they are ready to read on Monday. Bonus, everyone gets a prize just for setting up a page.
The reading sessions start on Monday. Students are asked to commit to reading 10 minutes per session for 10 sessions (lower grades-being read to counts!). Something they should be doing daily anyway! They can record their sessions on their personal read-a-thon page. Students can ask family and friends to support their commitment to reading by asking for donations. This is a flat donation not a pledge. If you are getting together with family and friends this weekend what better conversation starter than “my child is doing a read-a-thon, want to support them”? Is your family far away? No fear you can send requests via email, text, Twitter and Facebook. Donations can be sent in directly with credit card, Paypal or check.
In addition, you can ask local businesses to sponsor the read-a-thon. If you frequent a local restaurant, go to a dentist or orthodontist; know a relator or other family-focused businesses who might sponsor Barrett please see the document attached. We will advertise the business in exchange for sponsorship.
Again, we are not having an auction this year. This is our major fundraiser to support all the PTA programs and activities. Thanks for your support as we try out this new way of raising funds.
